A bit more about Jola Edwards
Before my law career I spent many years working in the travel and airline industry which took me to many corners of the world. After conquering the travelling bug, I dedicated my career to law and specialise in helping those with learning disabilities and incapacity.
For a number of years now, I have been representing patients detained in a number of hospitals across the North West and this work has inspired me to assist vulnerable people assert their basic human rights. I now run the Court of Protection / Civil litigation department with my fellow Director, Peter Edwards, where I particularly focus on deprivation of liberty, safeguarding and abuse cases.
I regularly act on behalf of the Official Solicitor.
My expertise in mental capacity law has been recognised by my appointment as an ‘Accredited Legal Representative’ by the Law Society.
I have been involved in many of the leading cases that have helped to shape our incapacity law.
I am also a member of the Law Society Mental Health Tribunal Accreditation Scheme.
Little known fact...
I was born and educated in Poland where I read English and German at the ancient Jagiellonian University of Krakow.
Away from the office...
In my spare time I still criss-cross Europe on foot and on skis with the snowy peaks of Chamonix and the cobbled streets of Krakow which remain my all-time favourite haunts. In 2010 I almost got to the top of Mont Blanc only to be beaten by a bout of altitude sickness suffered by one of my climbing companions. Next time perhaps?
