Harriet Hansen shortlisted for Rising Star Award

Harriet Hansen has been shortlisted for the prestigious Rising Star Award by the Liverpool Law Society. The awards are in their tenth year and highlight the talent, diversity and skills across the Merseyside region and beyond.

Harriet joined Peter Edwards Law in October 2019 as a Legal Assistant and soon after became a Trainee Solicitor dedicated to supporting and furthering the human rights of those who are most vulnerable in society.

A delighted Harriet said, “I am incredibly proud to have been nominated for this award and looking forward to a special night. Peter Edwards Law is a very different law firm. We are one of the few practices specialising in helping to make sure the most vulnerable people in society are listened to.”

Harriet explained, “When someone is diagnosed with a mental health problem or if they lack capacity, it can often mean their opinions and ideas are not taken seriously. At this most difficult time in someone’s life, other people can step in to make decisions on their behalf. This can be frustrating and overwhelming, especially when services are imposed that they or their family do not want. Using the law, we can help ensure that rights are respected and protected.”

Director Peter Edwards was himself recognised for his fight for Human Rights with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021, he added, “From the day Harriet joined Peter Edwards Law she has shown outstanding dedication and willingness to learn. She deserves this recognition and I’m certain she will continue to have a successful career.”

The awards ceremony takes place on 9 November 2023 at the Crowne Plaza hotel, with guest speaker the Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside, Mr Mark Blundell.
