‘Courts braced for surge in cases of elderly locked up against their will’ Telegraph

Frail, disabled and elderly people who are locked up in care homes and   hospitals could soon overwhelm the courts with legal challenges against   their treatment, the most senior family judge in England and Wales has   warned. The President of the Family Division of the High Court, Sir James Munby, said   it was becoming clear that the number of people forcibly deprived of their   liberty on mental health grounds had been “vastly” underestimated.
