A bit more about Padma Panigrahi...

I graduated with my LLB Honours degree in Law in 1998 and completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice in 1999.   I qualified as a solicitor in 2004 having carried out my training in a London based firm specialising in Criminal and Mental Health Law.

I have been a member of the Law Society’s Mental Health Panel since 2011.  I am also a member of the Criminal Litigation Panel and have Higher Rights of Audience before the Crown Court. I regularly represent clients detained under the Mental Health Act before the First Tier Tribunal.  This includes clients detained in High and Medium secure hospitals.

I joined Peter Edwards Law as a consultant in April 2011 and I represent clients detained in hospitals in and around the London area and also Rampton Hospital.  My experience in criminal law greatly assists me when representing clients diverted from the criminal justice system to the mental health system or have been transferred from prison to hospital. I also assist the Court of Protection department.

Little known fact...

I am a qualified yoga teacher although I am a little rusty at teaching at the moment.  I am also a speaker for the charity WaterAid and speak at various events in order to raise money and awareness for the charity.

Away from the office...

In my free time I enjoy travel, yoga, films and cooking.  In been the past I have been a keen runner and have completed 3 marathons.  I have recently dusted off my running shoes and am looking forward to taking on another challenge.
